Join me in making a difference in the lives of children worldwide!
This semester, I am pledging to stay on my feet as a participant in American University's Dance Marathon -- and as a supporter of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
The marathon is a twelve-hour event held from 8pm on November 21st to 8am on November 22nd. Building on our success last year, when we raised $20,632.37, AUDM pledges to raise $30,000 for Elizabeth Glaser this fall. Over 250 students will play games, learn a line dance, and stay on their feet all night to show support for children with AIDS and represent the challenges that these children face. This year's success is essential in continuing AUDM as a campus tradition, and this year's marathon cannot be a success without you.
There are an estimated 40,000 new HIV infections in the United States each year, the majority of them in people under the age of 25. Globally, approximately 39.5 million people are infected with HIV and 2.3 million of those are children. There are an estimated 1,000 new HIV infections everyday in children under the age of 15. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is bringing dramatic changes to the lives of these children as a worldwide leader in the fight against pediatric AIDS. This is why I am asking you to support me and Elizabeth Glaser – I'm dancing for the kids.
Help me in the effort to end HIV/AIDS. I have set a personal fundraising goal of $100, and I have already worked hard to raise money but I cannot do it alone. Any donation will help me reach my goal. Carpe DM – seize the dance and make a difference in the life of a child.
